Computrust Software Corporation has a long history of supporting guardians with case management and trust accounting systems. In 1982, Pacific Western Information Systems (PWIS) was established as a sub-division of Pacific Western Bank in San Jose, CA. PWIS developed specialized computer software solutions for Public Guardians and Administrators. In 1990, PWIS was acquired by Rolf Kessel and the company's name was later appropriately changed to CompuTrust Software Corporation to reflect the name of its major product and service.
